The special containers that are part of Langh Ship Cargo Solutions are designed to transport heavy cargo. They considerably speed up the stuffing and unstuffing of containers while simultaneously eliminating the need for disposable securing material. To illustrate just how big the difference is, we measured the time it takes to handle a container and the amount of securing material used.

 

 

We used plates, a relatively easy and simple product to secure, to test the conventional securing method.

 

It took a forklift driver 20 minutes to lift the products into the container, and two hours for two carpenters to secure the cargo in place.

 

Securing the cargo required 30 meters of 100 x 100, high-grade, square-edged timber and 20 meters of 50 x 100 timber. In addition, lashing belts, steel strapping bands and nails were used.

 

Secured in this manner, it took one person 45 minutes to unstuff the load from the container, including the dismantling of the timber securing materials. It took altogether more than 5 man-hours to fill and empty one container.

 

 

To test Langh Ship’s cargo-securing method, various steel coils in 8 different sizes, representing very challenging products to secure, were used.

 

The forklift driver lifted the products into the container while another person secured the cargo. Stuffing the container and securing the cargo took only 20 minutes and no disposable material was required.

 

It took the forklift driver, who had never before even seen this system, only 20 minutes to unstuff the container.

 

The overall time was cut to just one man-hour – just a fraction of the time it takes to process a container using the conventional method.
